Shukria Wiar is the Volunteer and Intern Program Director at the Greater Portland Immigration Welcome Center and is very excited for the opportunity to work with fellow immigrants.   Before coming to IWC, she worked in the planning and community development field for 20 years as a City Planner.  Shukria received her dual Bachelor of Science in Biology and Environmental Science and Policy at Clark University and a Master’s in Public Administration, also at Clark University in Worcester, MA. Shukria grew up in Portland, ME  and now lives in Cape Elizabeth with her husband and four kids.  She loves working with a range of professional skills to bring the best forms of development to the immigrant community. 

Shukria’s sincere belief is that there is space for us all and ALL of us, and I look forward to deepening my faith in this truth together.
