OUR VISION

Greater Portland’s thriving immigrant community fully reaches its civic, economic and social potential.

OUR MISSION

The Greater Portland Immigrant Welcome Center serves as a hub of collaboration that strengthens the immigrant community through language acquisition, economic integration and civic engagement.

Our Land Acknowledgement

The Greater Portland Immigrant Welcome Center is located on ancestral grounds originally cared for by the Aucocisco Band of the Wabanaki, which also includes the Abenaki, Maliseet, Mi’kmaq, Passamaquoddy, and Penobscot people, for thousands of years. Across Turtle Island, known to settlers as North America, the violence of settler colonialism has led to the traumatization and destruction of Indigenous bodies, communities and cultures and to irreparable damage to this planet. We in this workplace acknowledge that we live on and benefit from this land, that is not ours and was taken by force.
